There are numerous choices when it comes to parking at Christchurch Airport, from the premium Express Park right next to the terminal, to the economy off-site option at Airpark Canterbury. We’ve found that most Parkhero travellers choose an airport park based on price, location, security features, and rating.
If you’re still deciding which car park is right for you, we suggest considering how close you want to be to the terminal building, and your overall budget. As a general rule of thumb, the closer a car park is located in relation to the airport, the more expensive its rates will be. You will have to pay a little extra for undercover parking, and valet services usually come at a premium. If you’d rather splurge on your holiday than on your parking, off-site car parking Christchurch Airport might be for you.
Usually called shuttle parking or ‘park and ride,’ this type of Christchurch car parking is one of the most economical ways to park your car when departing from the airport. These car parks are run by independent companies, and situated off the main airport grounds. This means that they pay less ground rent and can pass on the savings to customers by offering more competitive rates than the official airport car parks. To make up for the extra distance, the options for park and ride Christchurch Airport provide complimentary shuttle bus services in both directions. There are several off-site car parks close to Christchurch Airport, however, we recommend, which can be seen below.
Arrival: On the day of departure, simply drive to the address of the chosen car park. As you enter the car park, show or scan your confirmation email from Parkhero. After entering and parking your car, you will then be taken to the airport as quickly as possible in one of the shuttle buses from the car park.
Return: On the day of return, after landing, contact the car park by phone, then a shuttle bus will be driven to the airport to pick you up and take you back to the car park.
Within a short shuttle ride, you can be at the Christchurch terminals from the Park and Ride Christchurch facility. Open 24/7, this car park is known by past clients for its low rates and friendly customer service team. It is recommended to leave at least 30 minutes between the time you plan to arrive at the car park, and when you need to be at the airport terminals.
Do keep in mind that while the car park is open 24/7, the shuttle does not run consistently through the night or morning. Always check the shuttle schedule before booking your spot to ensure you won't have to wait while at the car park.
Christchurch Airport owns and maintains five on-site car parks, including the Express Park, Short Stay Car Park, Long Stay Car Park, Orchard Road Car Park, and Park and Ride Car Park. Arrival: The official on-site airport car parks have license plate recognition, so when you arrive the plate number of the vehicle you registered with will be automatically recognized, leaving you with no need to take a ticket. The barrier arm will raise, but if it doesn’t, tap or insert your debit or credit card used to make your booking. If you have any trouble, simply press the 'HELP' button for the car park’s customer service team to assist you.
Return: Walk back to the car park, get in your car, and leave the car park. If you have any troubles, try the steps detailed above.
