It was 2012 when Jeroen, Parkhero's owner, noticed trouble in the market of airport car parks. Reports of damaged cars, cars being parked off-site, and travellers returning to their car having been driven dozens of kilometres appeared regularly in the media. All of this made him think.
At the time, Jeroen was a 20-year-old student living near Eindhoven Airport in the Netherlands. He began an in-depth investigation, and the results were decisive. After reading that consumers were lured with parking at Schiphol Airport for misleading prices of €1.80 per day, the plan to stop this chaos, and help consumers find cheap, reliable car parks, was launched.
So in 2013, one year later, the Dutch platform Vliegen en Parkeren was born, a website where you can compare reliable car parks based on price transparency. With the success of the Dutch platform, the company decided to enter the New Zealand market and help New Zealanders find affordable, quality parking. Since 2019, we have been active in New Zealand under the name Parkhero.
